Update from Moccasin Dam and Reservoir
Posted Date: 3/24/2018 1:30 PM
San Francisco, CA— As of 9:30 a.m. today, the SFPUC has lifted evacuation orders for the Moccasin Fish Hatchery and Moccasin Point Marina. The dam itself remains intact and all immediate safety risks have been mitigated. The Moccasin Dam Emergency Action Response Plan has been deactivated.

The situation affecting the Moccasin Dam and Reservoir in Tuolumne County over the past 36 hours has stabilized. The Moccasin Reservoir has been emptied to accommodate comprehensive inspection and make any necessary repairs prior to putting the reservoir back into service.

SFPUC’s priorities are to continue the assessment, repair and recovery of the dam, spillways and other appurtenances so that the dam and reservoir can safely return to normal operations.
Moccasin Reservoir is one of the SFPUC’s smallest reservoirs and is used for regulating the Hetch Hetchy water system.

There continues to be no impacts to the Bay Area’s water supply.
