Project Description

The SFPUC is excited to continue making investments in education by expanding our Project Learning strategy to include partnerships with community-based youth employment programs operating during the summer, academic year, and/or year round programs. The SFPUC anticipates awarding up to thirty (30) grants (approximately $10,000-$30,000 per grant), totaling up to $400,000, to non-profit community based organizations for projects that provide youth and young adults from disadvantaged neighborhoods and communities in San Francisco with project-based learning opportunities. Each grantee will administer one or more project-based learning experience(s) for youth and young adults enrolled in an existing community-based youth program. By leveraging existing youth programming in the community, these grants will increase the number and diversity of San Francisco youth and young adults meaningfully engaged in project- or work- based learning opportunities while increasing their awareness and understanding of water, power, and sewer services, environmental stewardship, and civic-community engagement.
