Water and wastewater rates are increasing this year to pay for continuing seismic improvements and other upgrades to our water and sewer system. Your water and wastewater rates fund the operations, maintenance, and capital improvements on more than 2,000 miles of pipelines, tunnels, reservoirs, treatment plants, and dams.
The SFPUC is committed to providing San Francisco with reliable and cost-efficient service. Even with the rate increases the average San Francisco combined water and wastewater bill will remain below those in most Bay Area and major U.S. cities.
The new rates were adopted by the SFPUC in June following customer notifications and public hearings. Rate changes will be effective with meter reads on or after July 1, 2008.
