Environmental Documentation

An Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration was initially prepared for the Sharp Park Recycled Water Project in November 2004 by Thomas Reid Associates, Environmental Consultants, a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) consulting firm. The Project description included the installation of a pump station at the Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant, construction of a new 400,000 gallon above-ground recycled water storage tank and installation of approximately 17,000 feet of distribution pipelines. Because of public concerns regarding the recycled water storage tank location, a Supplemental Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration was prepared that included alternative storage tank locations.

A public meeting was held on July 26, 2007 to receive input from the community, potentially affected property owners, agencies and interested parties regarding the alternatives included in the Supplemental Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration. The document was adopted by the North Coast County Water District’s Board of Directors in September 2007. Subsequently, the Board selected the Gypsy Hill site as the preferred location for the recycled water storage tank in October 2007.
