The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has prepared the 2005 Urban Water Management Plan for the City and County of San Francisco pursuant to the requirements of the 1983 California Urban Water Management Act (Act), California Water Code Division 6, Part 2.6, Sections 10610 through 10656.
The purpose of this Act is to ensure that water suppliers plan for long-term conservation and efficient use of California's water supplies. The Act requires all urban water suppliers to prepare an Urban Water Management Plan every 5 years. An urban water supplier, as defined by Section 10617, means a supplier, either publicly or privately owned, providing water for municipal purposes either directly or indirectly to more than 3,000 customers or supplying more than 3,000 acre-feet of water annually.
