The Energy Efficiency Group is building a program to provide support to City design teams to integrate energy efficiency into capital projects in municipal facilities. The City’s Green Building Ordinance was recently amended to require LEED silver certification for most new construction or major renovation projects in City-owned or leased buildings. Energy efficiency and building commissioning are major components of LEED. SFPUC is working in cooperation with the Department of Environment in this area.
Current work includes providing energy efficiency recommendations to the San Francisco Unified School District in greening its bond-funded projects and integrating energy efficiency into its standard design guidelines. Tools used include those developed by the CHPS program.
