This report presents the results of the feasibility study addressing generation of in-stream power from tidal flows in San Francisco Bay.  The study included computer modeling of the San Francisco Bay system to confirm total extractable energy, assessment of the percentage of energy that could be extracted without adverse impacts to the Bay's ecosystem, and a screening level assessment of existing and promising technologies.     Read more

Anyone who has driven through the Altamont Pass knows that wind can be used to generate electric power on a commercial scale. Two studies completed in 2004 and 2005 evaluate using wind to generate electricity within the City and County of San Francisco, while a third, completed in 2007, looks at the potential for wind power within San Francisco, off-shore west of the City, and along the Hetch Hetchy Right-of-Way east of the coastal hills. While many sites would not support commercial-scale wind power, the wind resource in several sites could be sufficient for commercial development.     Read more
