San Francisco residents are fortunate to enjoy a reliable and high quality water supply from Hetch Hetchy. This water plays a critical role in the health of our communities, the sustainability of our natural environment, and the success of our businesses. San Francisco has one of the purest water sources in the nation, yet the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) faces a crucial question: Will there be enough water to satisfy the future demand?
The Water Conservation Section of SFPUC was created to promote community involvement and education for water management. We work with residents, businesses, and communities to recognize the 'future demand' and offer a variety of water saving programs. We all share a responsibility to conserve water and preserve our water efficiently as possible. This website is used to relay information about methods and potential options to continue water conservation as well as new ideas for providing a 'future' source of water.
