Effective August 2015, the California Department of Water Resources is offering rebates to single-family homes throughout the state who replace high water-using turf grass with landscapes that require little water. Within the SFPUC’s retail service area, qualifying homes could receive a rebate of $2 per square foot of turf removed, for up to 1,000 square feet and a maximum rebate of $2,000 per household.
The turf replacement rebate is administered directly by the state and will be available until funds are depleted. For more information about the program including rebate guidelines and the online application, please visit Save Our Water Rebates.
NEW! Introducing Sheet Mulching
Removing your lawn doesn't have to involve harsh toxic pesticides or costly expenses. Sheet mulching is any easy process of layering cardboard and mulch right on top of the grass. Sheet mulching saves time, money, and water. To learn more about the sheet mulching process, please visit LawntoGarden.org.
