Participation in CleanPowerSF is easy. During the enrollment phase, CleanPowerSF will enroll specific customers in the City. Do nothing and you will receive cleaner energy; it’s that simple. Energy customers who wish to remain with PG&E may opt-out of CleanPowerSF at any time after they have been enrolled. There is no cost/fee to opt-out.
State law mandates that Community Choice Aggregation programs like CleanPowerSF operate as opt-out programs ONLY. Once we have determined the roll-out schedule for CleanPowerSF, the SFPUC will post the list of targeted areas on this website and begin to contact targeted customers. The enrollment process and the option to opt-out will be straightforward and easy.
Every customer who is offered service will receive at least four opt-out notices over the course of six months; two prior to enrollment, two after enrollment. Once a customer receives an opt-out notice, he or she may choose to opt-out at any time. CleanPowerSF will also publish the opt-out notice mailings on this website. Customers can opt-out at any time during and after the opt-out notification period. There is no cost or fee from the City to opt-out.
What Happens if My Area is not Targeted?
After the SFPUC launches the program, any residential or commercial customer who is not targeted for the first phase, but still wishes to enroll in the program, may elect to proactively become part of the CleanPowerSF community and receive cleaner energy by voluntarily requesting to sign up.
