Charge Your Vehicle with Clean, Hetch Hetchy Power!
The City and County of San Francisco began to build-out its Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station Infrastructure in February 2009, with the installation of three “Showcase” chargers in front of City Hall. The Power Enterprise has installed 26 EV charging stations throughout 12 City-owned, public parking facilities. These chargers, and future additional charging stations, will serve customers with clean, Hetch Hetchy hydroelectricity. The charging units are monitored for energy usage, fuel savings and greenhouse gas reductions and their energy is available to the public at no-cost through 2013.
In addition to these 26 EV charging stations, Power has also assisted San Francisco International Airport and Treasure Island with the installation of 23 EV charging stations that are currently operational and available to the public.
As demand increases for electric vehicles, the City is gearing up to supply even more clean, Hetch Hetchy energy for new charging stations. By the end of summer 2012, the City’s EV infrastructure will increase by an additional 25 charging stations. These charging stations will be added to existing and new City-owned parking facilities.
