"Using Water Wisely" 2014 Illustration Contest

Entries Due March 28, 2014


The "Using Water Wisely" Illustration Contest promotes students’ awareness of water as a precious natural resource. Creative inspiration is provided by Our Water, the curriculum unit developed by the SFPUC designed to teach students about San Francisco’s water resources and the importance of conservation.


San Francisco Students Grades 3-6 Eligible

Entries can illustrate anything from imaginative ways to conserve or recycle water for the future to pollution prevention or the importance of water in our everyday lives.

The contest Grand Prize winner will receive a field trip to San Francisco’s Garden for the Environment for their classroom, learning ‘hands-on’ about water-wise practices and pollution prevention. In addition, students and teachers from each classroom grade level 3-6 with a winning entry will receive an SFPUC stainless steel water bottle.

2013 Winning Entries 

Congratulations to all our winners! The contest truly showcased the creativity of the next generation of environmental stewards. Entries illustrated the importance of water with imaginative drawings and collages portraying practical everyday water conservation tips, plumbing leak repair and rainwater harvesting. Creative inspiration was provided by ‘Our Water’, the SFPUC’s California standards-aligned curriculum unit that introduces children to the Hetch Hetchy Water System and protecting our precious water resources.
