Islais Creek, Sunset, Northshore and More: Learn about Your Urban Watershed
Did you know there are 8 urban watersheds in San Francisco, including one named Yosemite? In this compelling program from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, you will learn what an urban watershed is and about the connection between San Francisco's urban watersheds, the sewer system, the ocean and the bay.
Explore opportunities to become a watershed steward including rainwater harvesting, the Laundry to Landscape gray water pilot program, the Watershed Stewardship grant program, and SF Greasecycle –a program to keep Fats, Oils and Grease out of the sewer system.
As part of the Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP) you will be able to share issues you have experienced related to stormwater and the sewer system (i.e. ponding or pooling, odors) and learn about project opportunities for stormwater management, such as rain gardens and permeable pavement that you think are possible in your urban watershed.
