In response to California's severe drought, Governor Jerry Brown issued an executive order on April 1st calling for a mandatory statewide 25% reduction in urban water use. Areas of high water use in California need to reduce more, while areas of low water use, like San Francisco, need to reduce less. The SFPUC’s customers have done well to reduce water use, and the SFPUC is asking all customers to stay committed to conserving water. A call for 10% overall reduction in water use is in effect starting June 1, and a 25% reduction in outdoor irrigation water use will be in effect starting July 1. Learn more about water use restrictions that are in effect now.
