The SFPUC is the City’s municipal power utility. We generate clean hydroelectric, solar and biogas electricity for San Francisco’s services and customers. We’ve expanded our services through the CleanPowerSF Program, a program that allows us to partner with PG&E in San Francisco to deliver cleaner energy to residents and businesses. Our diverse energy portfolio has a zero greenhouse gas emission profile. As we collaborate with partners to provide cost-effective, clean electricity, we’re also working to ensure the communities impacted by our operations are reaping the benefits of our efforts.
Highlight: Climate Solutions Programming
The ECO2school Program provides Bay Area students with the knowledge and tools needed to reduce carbon footprints at their schools. The program, led by the Center for Climate Protection, focuses on engaging students through activities that educate, reduce carbon emissions and build awareness about climate change. Through the program, students learn about applications that support healthy living, safe low carbon commutes, traffic decongestion and improved air quality for their communities.
Private firms have financially supported the program to engage youth in underserved schools and to develop partnerships with local community-based organizations such as Hunters Point Family to reach youth. Firms have also provided support by creating energy literacy curriculum and education programming; holding energy presentations and leadership workshops for students.
