More than $50 Million in WSIP Contracts to be Awarded in June
San Francisco, CA: The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) approved a $31.9 million contract at its meeting this week to Steve P. Rados, Inc. (SPR) to install a new seismically-designed fourth siphon to help transport drinking water for the Hetch Hetchy regional water system.
Earlier, the Commission approved $31.5 million contract to Western Water Constructors to rebuild the Lake Merced Pump Station in San Francisco. Shimmick Construction was awarded $12.6 million contract for the Bay Division Pipelines #3 and 4 Crossover Facilities. These construction contracts are part of the multi-billion dollar Hetch Hetchy Water System Improvement Program (WSIP).
“By the end of June, we anticipate awarding another $51.2 million in construction contracts, says Julie Labonte WSIP Director. “Additionally, three multi-million dollar contracts are expected to be advertised this summer if environmental certification progresses as planned,” she added.
SPR, a California-based heavy engineering construction company, has an 85 history as General Contractors. In 2008, the Sacramento Chapter of American Public Works Association recognized the company’s in its Environmental Category for a Project of the Year Award. For the Siphon’s project, SPR will be working with Brown Sheet Metal, Frank Olsen, SD Electric and D&S Trucking—SFPUC certified regional Local Business Enterprises.
For the Lake Merced Pump Station, Western Water Constructors, a 100% employee owned company with a 50 year history, will perform the work. Certified local business enterprises working with Western Water on this project are: Bauman Landscaping, Wizards of Metal, D&M Plastering and Value Fire.
Shimmick Construction of Oakland recently successfully completed the seismic retrofit of the Sunset Reservoir north basin for the SFPUC. During June, the Commission will consider approval of contracts for the University Mound Reservoir Upgrades, Vista Francisco Pump Station, both in San Francisco, and the San Andreas Pipeline #3 Installation between Daly City and San Francisco.
BIDS DUE in early June for the Rehabilitation of San Joaquin Pipelines - Roselle Crossover Improvements estimated at $2.5 million, and the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and Ph II Thomas Shaft Improvement Project in western San Joaquin County, estimated around $3 million.
