Pre-Qualification has been Re-Opened for the Proposed Calaveras Dam Replacement Project
(Contract No. WD-2551), May 2010
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has issued a revised Request for Qualifications (RFQ) in search of prime contractors who have the necessary qualifications to be pre-qualified to bid on the proposed Calaveras Dam Replacement Project.
Due to seismic safety concerns about the dam, built in 1925, the SFPUC proposes to replace the existing dam with a new earth and rock-fill dam directly downstream at the foot of the existing dam. The proposed new dam will have the same reservoir storage capacity as the existing dam.
The total project construction cost is currently estimated at approximately $250 million over a duration of approximately 48 months.
Please note that the work performed for the Calaveras Dam Replacement Project is subject to a Project Labor Agreement (PLA). The contractor and its subcontractors are required to abide by the terms and conditions of the PLA. Please find information about the PLA here.
