E-bill Payment
San Francisco Public Utilities Commission - Water Department customers may now receive, view and pay their water bills on line.
When you first enroll with SFPUC - BillPay, if your most recent bill has already been mailed via US mail, you will not be able to view or pay that bill on line. You will only be able to view and pay your bill on line once you have received your first electronic bill.
What is BillPay?
BillPay, also called "e-bill" or Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) provides you with an exact replica of the paper bill you receive from the SFPUC - Water Department. Instead of being mailed via the US Post Office, you will receive an e-mail message announcing that your "e-bill" is available for your review on line. A secure login process protects your on line bill and ensures that only you have access to your billing information.
Benefits of using online bill payment:
- Save time and paper by not writing checks
- Save the cost of postage
- Pay easily and quickly, 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Reduce clutter and stop receiving paper bills
You still control how much you pay and when you pay your bill. Your payment will be deducted from the bank account information you provide when you enroll for BillPay. You may cancel BillPay online at any time and begin once again to receive your paper bill.
When Do I Make My Payment?
Schedule your payments to be paid at least four to five business days before the actual payment due date. When payments are sent electronically, the funds for the payment are debited from your designated account on the scheduled payment date. After the payment date, you can go to the payment history page to check the status of the payment. The payment status should be "Paid."
Can I enroll in BillPay if I am already enrolled in the SFPUC Automatic Bill Payment (direct debit) program?
Yes. You can choose to participate in BillPay and you will receive and view your bills online instead of continuing to receive your paper bill by mail. You will not need to pay your bill online. When you receive your electronic bill it will show the scheduled "settlement date" when your payment will be automatically deducted from your bank account.
