Final Technical Memorandum: Post-Inundation Surface Water Characterization and Risk Assessment,
Pacific Rod and Gun Club at Lake Merced - September 6, 2007

In an effort to characterize the impact of raising lake levels, the SFPUC voluntarily evaluated whether inundation of residual lead shot along the shoreline of the Pacific Rod and Gun Club (PRGC) could potentially create adverse human or ecological hazards.  No lead shot has been used at the PRGC since 1994.  The results of this attached study, which was prepared by URS, suggest that release of lead concentrations from inundated soils is occurring along a limited portion of the shoreline into the water column, but that the lead concentrations are not significant in the dissolved phase.  Additionally, current lead concentrations in the surface water along the PRGC shoreline do not appear to pose a significant health threat to humans and aquatic receptors.
