SFPUC to Outline New Measures to Discourage Bottled Water Consumption, Promote Tap Water

In conjunction with an Executive Order issued by Mayor Gavin Newsom today that bars City agencies and use of City funds to purchase bottled water, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will hold a public hearing on the environmental impacts, water quality claims and cost of bottled water compared to tap water in San Francisco and the Bay Area.  The Commission will hear testimony from environmental and public health experts.  The SFPUC will also announce new measures to help City agencies, City employees and members of the public “get off the bottle” and drink high quality, affordable, sustainable tap water.
