SAN FRANCISCO AIMS TO BECOME REGIONAL LEADER IN WISER WATER USE, DIVERSIFIED WATER SUPPLY

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will launch the first of five Integrated Water Resources Plan (IWRP) public workshops to give San Franciscans the opportunity to learn, provide input and help guide the City’s efforts to develop a long-term water resource plan to diversify supply and preserve precious Hetch Hetchy water for the future.

The first workshop will give an overview of the IWRP and include discussion of San Francisco’s long term water supply options, including groundwater, recycled water, stormwater and surface water.  The IWRP workshop series will run through July 2005 and position San Francisco to become a regional model for wiser water use practices and more diverse, sustainable water supplies.
