Low-income families and small businesses will soon be eligible to receive a high efficiency toilet for free, installation included. The SFPUC will be piloting a program to replace 2,000 high volume toilets, flushing at 3.5 gallons or more, with High Efficiency Toilets (HET). HETs have a maximum flush volume of 1.28 gallons per flush and will save both water and money.
The SFPUC will work with San Francisco Community Power to provide free water-wise audits to eligible customers. Auditors will come to your home, check for leaks, show you how to read your water meter, provide efficient devices such as showerheads and aerators if appropriate and check your toilet for model eligibility. If you are deemed eligible for the program, a plumber will be arranged to install your new high efficiency toilet. All FREE of charge.
Program details will be posted as they are developed. To be added to the waiting list, email info@sfpower.org or call (415) 626-8723.
