The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) announced its pre-qualification program for prime contractors interested in participating in the Water System Improvement Program (WSIP) regional construction contracting opportunities January 14, 2008 at a luncheon for the tunnel industry sponsored by the Laborers' International Union of the North America (LIUNA).
The SFPUC will let construction contracts valuing $2.3 billion, between now and 2013, use a pre-qualification process to determine bidder responsibility prior to submission of bids for designated projects. Three major tunnel construction contracts including New Irvington Tunnel, Bay Tunnel and New Crystal Springs Bypass Tunnel are expected to go out to bid between 2008 and 2009.
Major Industry Representatives listened to technical presentations by senior project managers on the three WSIP Tunnel Projects .
Company representatives are encouraged to complete Pre-Qualifications Package as soon as possible to be eligible to review contract documents and discuss contract options prior to release bid packages.
For more information on the pre-qualification process, contact us at 415-551-4603, rfp@sfwater.org or Contractor Assistance Hotline at 415-554-1530.
