Why should I safely dispose of my medications?
- Flushing your medications can harm aquatic life in the Bay and Pacific Ocean because wastewater treatment plants were not designed to remove medications.
- Disposing in the garbage also is not a good option either since most landfills were not designed to keep medications from leaching into the land or surrounding ground water.
Here are some places that currently accept old/expired medications. Please contact them for more information:
- Recycled AIDS Medicine Program (RAMP) - RAMP accepts unused AIDS and HIV medications.
