The San Francisco Planning Department has extended the period for public comment on the Draft Program Environmental Review (Draft PEIR) of the SFPUC's proposed Water System Improvement Program (WSIP) until 5 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2007. Additionally, SFPUC staff will make a brief presentation on the proposed WSIP to the members of the San Francisco Planning Commission at the Commission's regularly scheduled meeting on October 11, 2007. Public comment on the Draft PEIR will be accepted at this October 11 Planning Commission meeting, as well.

• The Draft PEIR and associated reference materials can be viewed in print at:

  San Francisco Planning Department, 1660 Mission Street, 1st Floor, Planning Information Counter (copy of Draft PEIR only is available)

By Friday, July 6 at the following libraries: Alameda County/City of Fremont Library, San Francisco Main Library, Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library, City of San Mateo Main Library, San Jose-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library, the Modesto Library and the Tuolumne County Library in Sonora.


HOW TO SUBMIT PUBLIC COMMENT ON THE DRAFT PEIR

AFTER THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD

Once the public comment period closes on October 15, the Planning Department will prepare responses to each comment and may make additional revisions or provide additional information to the Draft PEIR based on public comments. Following preparations of the responses and any revisions, the San Francisco Planning Commission will consider certification of the Final PEIR in May 2008. After certification by the Planning Department, the SFPUC may consider approval of the WSIP based on the environmental analysis, as well as any mitigation measure and alternatives for the program.
