Full-Color Brochure Summarizes Future Projects to Diversify City Water Sources

"Water for Our Future," a short full-color brochure summarizing the SFPUC's comprehensive water supply diversification program, is now available. The program’s upcoming projects in recycled water, groundwater, desalination and conservation will supplement San Francisco's present supply of imported water and ensure residents a reliable delivery of high-quality drinking water in the event of an earthquake, drought or system shutdown.

Currently San Francisco residents are dependent on the 167-mile Regional Water System which transports surface water from the Sierras and crosses three seismically active faults on its way. Also long-term global warming is expected to continue reducing the snowpack runoff that provides a substantial portion of City water.
