On September 28, 2006, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) hosted a Sustainable Water Supply Briefing (SWSB). The SWSB was conducted at the request of the Bay Area Water Stewards (BAWS) and was held at the SFPUC’s Millbrae office. As requested by BAWS, the purpose of the briefing was to:
- Provide participants with more information regarding 2030 water demand studies on conservation, recycling and groundwater potential.
- Provide participants with an opportunity to discuss and provide feedback to the SFPUC and Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) regarding 2030 water demand studies.
- Initiate a dialogue regarding further development of conservation, water recycling and groundwater projects in the SFPUC service area.
There were 72 briefing attendees/participants including staff of the SFPUC, BAWSCA, SFPUC wholesale customer agencies, SFPUC technical consultants, BAWS members and two 5-person outside panels developed by the SFPUC and BAWS. The SFPUC, BAWSCA, and outside panels presented a range of information on the SFPUC demand studies, conservation, recycled water and groundwater implementation challenges and successes. Question and answer sessions followed the presentations.
