The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission has developed a Recycled Water Master
Plan to provide guidance for implementing recycled water projects in San Francisco. Recycled water will help the City better meet its long-term water demands in a more reliable and sustainable manner.
Throughout the development of the Recycled Water Master Plan, a series of four public workshops were held to ensure that community issues and concerns were considered. The Recycled Water Master Plan includes a citywide assessment of potential recycled water users and recommends development of recycled water on the west side of San Francisco. Funds to construct these projects are included in the Water System Improvement Program. Recycled water use in the northeast and east side of San Francisco is being evaluated as part of the Sewer System Master Plan.
Also attached is an update on the SFPUC’s recycled water activities. The update provides information on current recycled water activities in San Francisco, as well as the next steps in the development of recycled water projects.
The SFPUC will be sending out periodic updates on recycled water project activities. In addition, interested parties will be notified of future opportunities for public involvement.
