Testing Energy-Efficient LED Streetlights in San Francisco

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) have partnered to test the next generation of streetlights—energy-efficient, light emitting diode (LED) streetlights. These lights are 40 percent more efficient than traditional high pressure sodium vapor lights, and produce a whiter, brighter light, aiding public safety.

As part of this pilot program, PG&E and the SFPUC will be testing a variety of LED lights from different manufacturers, testing such things as:

  • Energy savings
  • Lighting performance
  • Longevity

If you haven't seen the new LED streetlights yet, they are installed in front of PG&E Headquarters on Beale Street, between Market and Mission. And near City Hall on Fulton, between Larkin and Hyde.

Your input is valuable to this process: we want to know what you think of these lights and whether you like them more than the traditional streetlights. Thank you for taking the time to visit our site and sharing your thoughts on the survey below.
