As part of the $412 million Earthquake Safety and Emergency Response Bond that was approved by voters in June 2010, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will begin a series of improvements to the City’s emergency firefighting water system this summer. The installation of six cisterns in the Outer Sunset neighborhood will be the first phase of system improvements.
The installation of these six cisterns will provide an additional source of water for the Outer Sunset neighborhood for firefighting, particularly following an earthquake or other natural disaster.
