The installation of six cisterns in the Outer Sunset neighborhood will be the first phase of system improvements.

The installation of these six cisterns will provide an additional source of water for the Outer Sunset neighborhood for firefighting, particularly following an earthquake or other natural disaster.

The target completion date for work at all Outer Sunset cistern locations is fall 2014, however weather or construction issues may postpone this date.
