As of July 1, 2010 Construction Start: May, 2011 Construction Finish: March, 2013 Project Cost: $71M The information shown reflects the current forecast information published in the latest WSIP Quarterly Report. Project Update While the CSPL2 project team is looking for CEQA certification late this summer, the project team continued to meet with CSPL2 project-related cities. The SFPUC recently invited more than a dozen San Mateo County city representatives to a luncheon event to learn more about the WSIP projects in the Peninsula Region this spring. Participating CSPL2 project-related cities included Hillsborough, Burlingame, Millbrae, South San Francisco, San Bruno and Daly City. The primary goal of the event was to partner with community leaders in the County, while gathering information on how to best communicate with them.
Peninsula project teams responded to questions at an open house prior to a formal presentation to nearly 100 participants. Feedback forms were collected at the event, and confirmed the event to be extremely helpful and a success. Many attendees congratulated the SFPUC for its proactive preconstruction communication efforts.
Please look for upcoming CSPL2 e-mail updates when our project reaches CEQA certification late this summer. Project Description The SFPUC is proposing to replace or repair segments of a 19-mile pipeline known as Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2. Proposed work areas include intermittent sites along El Camino Real between Hillsborough, Burlingame and Millbrae. Other segments of work will occur in unincorporated parts of San Mateo County, Hillsborough, South San Francisco, San Bruno, Brisbane and Daly City. The goal of this project is to ensure that our region’s water system infrastructure has a sustainable and reliable water supply. This pipeline is one of many water facilities in the region that has been identified for repair under the WSIP. Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 was installed between 1900 and 1930, and is one of the oldest and most critical water mains in the regional water system. Some of the benefits of this project include:
