Project Update The enviornmental review period for this project began with the issuance of the Notice of Preparation and a Public Scoping meeting. Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 (CSPL) extends from a point near the Crystal Springs Pump Station CSPS in unincorporated San Mateo County to the University Mound Reservoir in San Francisco. The pipeline is primarily 60-inch-diameter pipe with a 3.2 mile section that is 54-inch-diameter pipe. The purpose of the project is to improve seismic reliability of the pipeline. As part of the Water System Improvement Program (WSIP), the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is proposing to upgrade its regional water delivery system facilities in the area of Sawyer Camp Trail that are also very close to the San Andreas Fault. At this time, the SFPUC is updating recreational users of the trail and others about the project plans. The agency continues to welcome feedback for how we can make these necessary upgrades to your drinking water system with minimal inconvenience.

The purpose of the Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 Replacement Project is to ensure a safe and reliable water supply for eight Bay Area cities and the County of San Mateo. Cities included in this project are: Burlingame, Millbrae, San Bruno, South San Francisco, Brisbane, Daly City, Hillsborough and San Francisco. During the construction, no interruption of water service is anticipated. Read more
