The seismic retrofit and improvements at Stanford Heights Reservoir are underway. Contractor SJ Amoroso is currently doing demolition work on the Rockdale side of the reservoir. The project is expected to be complete in 2009.
Stanford Heights reservoir under this project will be upgraded to meet current seismic standards and conform to all State Health requirements. Reservoir circulation problems will be corrected with the construction of separate inlet and outlet piping and structures at each basin. The project will seismically strengthen the reservoir by adding moment frames, concrete shear walls, braces, struts and additional concrete footings. Project will also address other work such as crack repairs, sealing of reservoir roof, replacement of the expansion joints and cover plates, access and water quality improvements for sampling and disinfection, earthen embankment stabilization per DSOD requirements, erosion control, drainage, concrete repair of spalled roof soffit, joists and beams, security upgrades including fence replacement, security louvers, repair of existing liner, inlet/outlet valve repairs, roadway replacement, and removal of sediments, disinfection and chlorination upon completion.
