Project: New Northwest Reservoir
This project consists of planning, design and construction of a new reservoir to serve the northeastern portion of the City.

The northeast zone of San Francisco is vulnerable because there is no storage reservoir in that area. This reservoir will provide both fire protection reserves, and a pressurized supply to neighborhoods currently served from the Sunset and Lombard Zones.

This reservoir would service the Marina, Downtown and Presidio areas and would create a new supply zone for the City Distribution Division system. This reservoir would also augment the fire protection reservoirs for the downtown and Marina districts of the City. The required reservoir size is estimated to be five million gallons.

Construction of the reservoir would require approximately 14 months to complete. It is likely this facility would be built below grade and would be subject to mitigation requirements. State Department of Health requirements as well as Division of Dam Safety regulations will be followed for planning and siting the reservoir.
