Water supplies for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) are located at the Thomas and Mocho shafts on the SFPUC’s Coast Range Tunnel. Water from Mocho Shaft will meet water quality standards after completion of the Tesla Treatment Facility Project, however, Thomas Shaft water will not. The purpose of this project is to provide a water treatment facility at Thomas Shaft to disinfect water reliably and ensure compliance with water quality standards at both service locations in order to provide potable water to LLNL.

Description

The project consists of:

• Two ultraviolet (UV) disinfection units and support facilities. The units will be installed in the existing Thomas Shaft building.
• Two pumps that will pump water from the Coast Range Tunnel to the new disinfection system.
