Construction for this project was completed in November 2006.  This project included the installation of a new transmission line that will supply water from Sunset Reservoir to the northern and eastern zones of the city. It will increase reliability of the water distribution system and help ensure ample water supplies for fighting fires and other emergencies. Under this project, approximately 2.5 miles of 48-inch steel pipe will be installed. The installation of this transmission line will be done in two phases. The first phase being: From Pacheco Street at the Sunset Reservoir to 29th Avenue, proceeding north on 29th to Lincoln Way. The second phase will be from Lincoln Way to 6th Avenue. The project will include pipe jacking underneath various busy intersections, installation of isolation gate valves and vaults, manholes, cathodic protection and monitoring stations, sample taps, air valves, blowoffs, and other pipeline appurtenances.
