The New Crystal Springs Bypass Tunnel is being constructed to provide redundancy to the existing Crystal Springs Bypass Pipeline. This pipeline is a critical link in transmitting all of the water from the Sierra and East Bay supplies to the Peninsula and City of San Francisco. Description

The Project Team for the proposed New Crystal Springs Bypass Tunnel reviewed and assessed very carefully written comments and testimony at the hearings for the project’s Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR). While the Major Environmental Analysis (MEA) section of the San Francisco Planning Department will be publishing a formal response to each and every comment later this spring, the Project Team has offered further clarification on the following topics that generated most of the comments.
