Project: Fulton @ 6th Ave. - 30" Main Replacement

Project–At–A–Glance

WSIP Region
San Francisco Local

Project Completed
August, 2008

Project Cost
$5M

Project Completed August, 2008

This project replaced a 30-inch water transmission line in Golden Gate Park from Fulton and 6th to 7th to Lincoln Way. Additionally, a new 16-inch service was installed to support the major institutions and other Park facilities.

The project scope involves the construction of a 30-inch transmission main to replace the deteriorated Richmond supply main, which runs from Lincoln Way at 6th Avenue to Fulton at 6th. The existing transmission main is in very poor condition. There is no redundant supply pipeline from the Sunset system. The proposed transmission main would be designed to extend the Sunset zone to increase pressure and supply to the northern side of the zone. The project involves installation of approximately 4,000 feet of 30-inch diameter steel main. The project will include pipe jacking underneath various busy intersections, installation of line valves and vaults, manholes, cathodic protection and monitoring stations, sample taps, air valves, blow offs, and other pipeline appurtenances.
