The facilities at Lake Merced require overall assessment to determine mechanical, electrical, structural, and hazardous materials code compliance and overall condition. The current operation, as well as the future demands on the Lake Merced Pump Station (LMPS) must be taken into account to determine how the reconditioning/reconstruction of the facilities should proceed. It is likely that the pump station would have to be reconfigured and rebuilt to accommodate the continued operational demands of the City of San Francisco. Initially, pump performance, emergency power, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) project impacts, surge analysis, equipment condition, seismic issues, and worker safety would be considered. Upon completion of a full evaluation of the Pump Station facilities, a phased master plan will be developed to assist with completion of future projects at the site. Evaluation will include a condition assessment of the San Andreas #2 supply pipeline and the distribution pipelines leaving the LMPS. Replacement and repair of these pipelines may be included in the project scope in the future. | |
