This project is in the final stages of design and is anticipated to be advertised to qualified contractors in summer 2008 with construction anticipated to begin fall 2008.  This project will address supply issues associated with the University Mound (UM) system. The UM system and the Sunset Supply system are two independent systems now.Under this project they will be tied together to provide water to downtown areas in case of emergencies.

Project Background:
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) plans to upgrade the City’s water distribution system by connecting a distribution zone in the east to distribution zone in the west with the installation of a new transmission main in parts of North Beach, Russian Hill, Pacific Heights and Cow Hollow Neighborhoods beginning in summer 2008.  In addition some water & sewer mains and other system components will be replaced.
