Project–At–A–Glance

WSIP Region

Construction Start
April, 2008

Construction Finish
August, 2009

Current Status
Construction

Project Cost
$5M

The construction contract was awarded to Cal State Constructors and construction began in June 2008. The construction is targeted to be completed in the Summer 2009.

This project will upgrade the vehicle service center, machine shop, and various other City Distribution Division (CDD) shops to correct seismic deficiencies and comply with worker safety standards and heath department regulations. Many of the facilities and equipment are outdated, not seismically braced, not grounded or expose workers to unnecessary safety hazards. To reduce worker exposure, new equipment will be needed to either replace or control existing equipment that generates dust, fumes or noise. The project will bring the facility into compliance with current codes, including: Uniform Building Code, Electrical Code, Americans with Disabilities Act, Department of Public Health and California Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).
