This project was advertised on November 4th. The project specifications and bid information are available to view on the Construction Bid Opportunities page.
The project is provided in response to the Seismic Reliability level of service goals. Both of these facilities are important to the transmission of water in the northern portion of the Peninsula.
Description The project would include a general mechanical and seismic upgrade of existing facilities and the addition of a pressure-reducing station. Miscellaneous work would also be performed at the Pulgas Pump Station and the Pulgas Tunnel Air Shaft in order to facilitate moving water flow southward through the system at higher pressures than normal.
The major work elements at the various sites would primarily include:
- Baden Valve Lot - Installing a new pressure-reducing valve to allow water to flow from the water treatment plant high-pressure zone to the low-pressure supply zone, installing five new isolation valves, replacing three existing valves, seismically retrofitting eight existing vaults, replacing piping segments, existing electrical switchgear, transformer, and three pumps, and other miscellaneous improvements.
- San Pedro Valve Lot –seismically retrofitting two valve vaults, modifying the electric valve operators, installing a new air valve, and miscellaneous site drainage improvements.
- Pulgas Pump Station -replacing one isolation valve, and stabilizing slopes among other improvements at the Pulgas Tunnel Air Shaft site.
