Project: Alameda Watershed Habitat Conservation
The Alameda Watershed is a special natural resource that helps supply and store drinking water for 2.4 million people in the Bay Area. Protecting and preserving the diverse habitats on these lands goes hand in hand with delivering water, since healthy and intact watersheds produce a higher quality of water supply. In the continued effort to manage and maintain these watershed lands in an environmentally responsible way, the SFPUC adopted the Alameda Watershed Management Plan in the year 2000. Reflecting over ten years of research, planning, and extensive communication with stakeholders, the Plan sets forth the guidelines, practices, and overarching policy for the longterm care of the watershed.

Secondary goals include the maximization of water supply and the preservation and enhancement of ecological resources.
