GoSolarSF, the pilot program to provide solar energy incentives to San Francisco residents and businesses, has been placed on hold. The Board of Supervisors is reviewing this program. Please stay tuned here for announcement of a new GoSolarSF program start date.

Mayor Newsom was joined today at the Ferry Building by national nonprofit Food and Water Watch and local restaurant leaders who took the opportunity of U.N. World Water Day (March 22) to announce a new initiative to “Take Back the Tap” and urge local restaurants to follow the City’s lead by removing bottled water from menus. In June 2007, Mayor Newsom issued an Executive Directive barring use of City funds to buy bottled water in an effort to protect the environment. City departments are in nearly full-compliance with the bottled water ban. Read more | As one of four pilot cities participating in Earth Hour 2008 throughout the United States, San Francisco will be leading Earth Hour 2008 on the western coast. Organized by the World Wildlife Fund, this Earth Hour 2008 encourages citizens and businesses to turn off the lights for one hour on Saturday, March 29 from 8 to 9 PM. This worldwide event, taking place in 22 major cities around the globe, can demonstrate how taking one simple action can fight global warming. Read more |
