LEADING STORY

The San Francisco Planning Department today posted its Draft Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) on the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s (SFPUC) $4.3 billion Water System Improvement Program (WSIP). The 3,000+ page draft report analyzes the potential environmental impacts, potential mitigations and potential alternatives to the cumulative effects on water supplies, water quality, noise, land use and natural, visual, cultural and other resources from the WSIP’s twenty-two regional projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley. The release of the Draft PEIR is a key step in the environmental review process of the WSIP and begins a formal 90-day public comment period. Public hearings are also scheduled for September in each of the counties impacted by the WSIP.     Read more
