This is a Position-Based Test conducted in accordance with Civil Service Rule 111A.

The current position is located at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. The eligible list resulting from this examination may be utilized for future positions in this class in other City departments.

POSITION INFORMATION:
Under direction of the Assistant General Manager for Power, the Special Projects Manager manages projects relating to Power Enterprise initiatives.  The Manager evaluates, develops and implements goals, responsibilities, policies and procedures of the division.  Projects entail establishing or upgrading policies, systems and processes of the expanding Power Enterprise.  Develop maintenance policy and implement computer maintenance management system for Utility Services.  Direct development and implementation of document management policies and procedures for the Power Enterprise.   Direct the production and management of the Power Enterprise program management system.  Conduct research and analysis and /or prepare information to inform PUC management and Commissioners, including the Power enterprise annual budget preparation.  Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Baccalaureate degree in Business Management, Economics, Public Administration, Urban Studies or closely related field; AND
2. Five (5) years of managerial and administrative experience.  The management experience must include planning, assigning, directing and reviewing work processes.

SUBSTITUTION: Additional verifiable experience as described above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

5. All other provisions of this announcement except for the Certification Rule may be appealed to the Human Resources Director. Appeals of these provisions must be filed within five business days with the examination analyst listed on this announcement.
6. Per Civil Service Rule 111A.26.5, the Human Resources Director may approve the use of the eligible list resulting from this examination for Permanent Civil Service appointments to other positions in the same or similar classes.
